Engaging Men in the Calls for Justice (Canada):

The presentation will provide an overview of the root causes of the MMIWG2S+ genocide as well as an introduction to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women which resulted in a Final Report and 231 Calls for Justice that outline the immediate and sustained action required to redress the overwhelming amount of violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ people.

It will also offer an introduction to Safe Passage, a community-driven, trauma-informed, and survivor centered initiative created by the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) that tracks cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, transgender, gender-diverse, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+), monitors ongoing safety concerns and provides distinctions-based safety resources, educates the public about the MMIWG2S+ genocide.

NWAC: is a National Indigenous Organization representing the political voice of Indigenous women, girls and gender-diverse people in Canada, inclusive of First Nations on and off reserve, status and non-status, disenfranchised, Métis and Inuit.
